One of my goals here in Congress, being the youngest member of the California delegation, is to really try and get the institution to upgrade the way it communicates with its constituents.

I want us to be a country of free ideas, free markets, and a freedom to dream.

California is among several states that already have fought their way out from under partisan gerrymandering by taking line-drawing authority away from the Legislature.

I've worked since taking a newspaper route at age 9 and served as a prosecutor, a planning commissioner, a city councilman, and a congressman to pay back some of what my community and nation gave me.

Our country needs help, and I think the best way to help the country is to bring new energy, new ideas, and new leaders to solve the problems.

We believe that every child has a right to learn without fear, that every parent has a right to hug their beautiful little babies when they come home from school, and that all of us, we have a right to dance at a concert, laugh at the theater, pray at a synagogue, at a church, and at a mosque.

My position has always been that the House of Representatives does not take reservations. It's walk-in only.

For millions of Americans, federally subsidized student loans and Pell Grants are an important resource for us to get ahead so we can achieve the American dream.
