I've been known to drop a spoken-word bit into a song from time to time. But not straight-up rap. I don't know that I have that gift.

If you can make the song a soundtrack to what you're living at the time, I think that's the most important part of a song.

The best way to write a song is to think of something else and then the song kind of creeps in.
